THEME & TOPICS
Since its foundation in Dalian, China in 2007, the Asian Fisheries Acoustics Society (AFAS) has successfully organized 16th annual meetings under the umbrella name of “The International Conference on Underwater Acoustic Technology and Education for Sustainable Fisheries in Asia”. These conferences have effectively promoted the dissemination and development of fisheries acoustic in Asia. Th 16th annual meeting of AFAS was held in Shanghai, China from 13 to 16 November 2023. Throughout the conferences so far, the main theme has been “to contribute and exchange the knowledge and experience on marine science and technology especially fisheries acoustics with Asian Scientists”.
The upcoming meeting will be held in Nagasaki, Japan from 4 to 7 November 2024. Both oral and poster presentations are welcome and deemed to inspire further discussions on the four special topics. Scientists, researchers and manufactures in the field of fisheries acoustics as well as other fisheries research areas are welcome.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Participants are encouraged to submit paper on all topics for discussion during the meeting, and papers on the next four topics.

Contributed papers will be selected by the steering committee for oral presentation, and each speaker in oral sessions is allocated 15 minutes including the time for Q&A. Depending on the number of oral presenters, poster presenters may be allotted 5 minutes of presentation time without Q&A. The poster size should be A1 Size 23.4 inches (59.4 cm) wide x 33.1 inches (84.1 cm) high. The language of the meeting will be English.
Abstract should be submitted to the meeting secretariat only by E-mail (afas2024@outlook.jp) in the format of Portable Document Format (*.pdf). The deadline of abstract submission is August 31, 2024

AFAS AWARD
The AFAS award was established in 2012. "Young Fisheries Acoustician Award" is given to a fisheries acoustic researcher under the age of 40 for their excellent presentation. "Student Best Presentation Awards" are given to students for their best presentation.
